Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage public works projects valued at $5M+.
  • Supervise and coordinate technical staff in project design and construction.
  • Prepare project designs, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Administer project construction contracts, including payments and change orders.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections of construction sites.
  • Coordinate grant applications for infrastructure funding.
  • Review engineering plans and building permit applications.
  • Manage the use and training of CAD software in the department.
  • Investigate public concerns, conduct field inspections, and ensure compliance with regulations.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 6–8 years of civil engineering experience, including supervisory roles.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Valid driver’s license.
