Position Overview

  • This role is responsible for mechanical engineering on large-scale projects, involving comprehensive mechanical system design, analysis, component selection, and system commissioning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems from scratch, including stress and fatigue analysis, load calculations, material stress design, failure and effects analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Select components and oversee mechanical system installation and commissioning.
  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Develop and implement fully integrated mechanical assembly systems in compliance with local and government regulations.
  • Analyze system designs for hazard development and mitigation.
  • Optimize redundancy and minimize the need for Class 1 parts to reduce single points of failure.
  • Create detailed system configuration and design documents, including operation descriptions, system design descriptions, implementation and acceptance test plans, and routine maintenance/job plans.
  • Develop mechanical design drawings, assemblies, and installation procedures using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks software.
  • Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
  • Perform system analysis and calculations, including stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, and tolerance studies.
  • Understand ride system design requirements, including guest accelerations, reach envelope, ingress/egress, weight, and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Assist with initial start-up, debugging of integrated systems, and development of system documentation.
  • Lead system integration projects for clients in industries such as entertainment and manufacturing.
  • Serve as technical lead on projects, guiding lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Act as Project Manager on smaller projects ranging from $50k to $250k, developing and executing implementation plans, assigning work, ensuring team understanding of responsibilities, developing schedules, evaluating project progress, managing purchasing and subcontractor requirements, and developing costs and proposals for change orders.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience preferred in mechanical systems, component design, stress analysis, acceleration forces, and amusement ride safety standards (ASTM Standards).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is also desired.
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
  • Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings.
  • Proficiency in system design functions.
  • Strong planning, customer focus, timely decision-making, informing, organizing, priority setting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
  • Ability to travel up to 35%.


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
