Principal Responsibilities:

  • Repair, rebuild, and maintain casting and trim dies, ensuring they meet original specifications.
  • Operate all machines and equipment associated with the die repair process.
  • Transport, clean, disassemble, and reassemble dies using lift trucks, die cleaning equipment, and cranes.
  • Build and replace segments, cores, details, and parts from blueprints.
  • Draw polish or grind die cavity surfaces using required tools.
  • Perform welding duties in both the foundry and the Die Repair Department.
  • Troubleshoot production tooling problems and perform necessary repairs.
  • Complete forms, die work orders, pictorials, signoffs, and records.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and department.
  • Perform all other duties incidental to the safe and efficient operation of the tool and die repair department as assigned.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proficiency in drawing, polishing, and grinding die cavity surfaces.
  • Ability to build and replace segments, cores, details, and parts from blueprints.
  • Experience in performing welding duties in a foundry setting.
  • Capability to train new employees.
  • Up to 2 years of relevant training or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Must possess Tool & Die Repair Journeyman Papers.


Education Required:

  • Associate’s Degree, trade or technical school, or journey person certificate.
  • Ability to perform highly skilled tasks and solve complex problems.
